About Library

The library of IIHMR Bangalore is a central place for Academics, Knowledge Acquisition, and Research activities. It has a rich collection of books, periodicals, dissertations, Project reports, Faculty Publications, and Case Studies; the Collection also includes E-resources from leading Databases. Such as EBSCOhost and Indiastat. The library has a unique collection of publications in various fields such as Health Management, Hospital Management, Health Information Technology & Pharmaceutical Management. Also, the collection of IIHMR-owned Research Project training materials, Handbooks, Manuals, Reports, and Conference Proceedings are available. In 2019, the library was automated with KOHA LMS and OPAC Facility. Koha includes modules for acquisitions, circulation, cataloging, serials management, authorities, flexible reporting, label printing, multi-format notices, offline circulation for when Internet access is not available, and much more.

IIHMR – Bangalore Library Provides The Following Services

1. Reference Assistance:

The library provides in-person assistance at a designated Information or reference desk. Providing reference help in the library is often the most effective way of getting your questions answered.

2. Telephone Reference
& Electronic-Reference services:

We answer questions over the telephone and also answer questions submitted through e-mail

3. News Paper Clipping Service: IIHMR-B library provides email alert news in Health, Hospital, HIT, Demography, and Management, to all the library users daily.

4. Reprographic Service: Photocopy: Photocopy and printing facilities are also available for student academic use. Photocopy in the library provides the service at a nominal price for students and other scholars who access articles through Electronic Databases..

5. OPAC Service: Library users can search the library catalogue and other online material through this OPAC service remotely.

6. Induction & Orientation Any one of our library users can take the induction & Orientation about the library. Most of the new batch students & newly joined employees can avail this service.

7. Online access to Databases: Online database service providers can train our library users how to search, retrieve & download the subscribed Database.

8. Alert Service: IIHMR, Bangalore library alerts users weekly regarding the list of research articles that appeared in journals, edited books, conferences, and seminars on health Management studies and related disciplines. This can help us our library user to get this benefit.

Circulation Privileges

1. Issue of books/Journals/Magazines (Faculty)

3. Issue of Books (Students)

A student can borrow only four books at a time for a period of one week.
It can be extended for the next one week. If the students fail to return the books on time, an overdue fine of Rs. 5/- (Five Rupees Only) per day is collected.
Students will be responsible for any kind of damages or loss of books or other items issued. They will be required to recover all costs associated with the repair/replacement of such items.
Loss of library books should be reported to the Library Staff Immediately in writing.
At the end of the academic year, all students must return the Library books/Materials borrowed and take a No Due Certificate from the Library before leaving the Institute.

Library Rules & Regulations

General Library Rules

All students and staff of the Institute are members of the Library.
Marking, underlining, or writing on library books, periodicals, and newspapers are strictly forbidden.
The librarian may call for a book at any time, even if the normal loan period has not expired.
Books taken from the shelf should be left on the study table, and no effort should be made to relocate these books.
The members should take good care of library furnishings and equipment. Ensure the library looks as good when you leave as it did when you came in.
Drinks and food are not allowed in the Library.
Library computers are for academic purposes only. Do not tamper with the computer settings. Follow the internet safety guidelines.
Strict order and silence shall be maintained in the library, and speak softly if needed.
Do not use a mobile phone inside the Library.
Personal books are not allowed inside the Library.
Issued books are not allowed inside the Library.
Mandatory to produce the Institute ID Card for the Issue and Renewal of books.

Responsibilities of the Committee are as Follows

Advises and reviews library policies for instruction, resources, services, and the facility.
Discusses budgetary issues for books, journals, online databases etc.
Advice regarding library services, especially innovation for the campus community.
Ensure the Library is connected with and supports the Institute's academic, research, and training programmes.
This committee shall meet as often as possible but at least once in a quarterly / case-specific for discussion and review.
