Brief Biography

PhD – Food Science & Nutrition (Awarded Senior Research Fellowship from ICMR, New Delhi).

Area of ExpertiseNutritional Assessment, Micronutrient deficiency Assessment, Micronutrient supplementation, Social behavior change communication, Program Impact Evaluation, Lifestyle Interventions, Dietary Pattern, Dietary Diversity and other areas of nutrition.

 Dr. Jyoti Vijay contributed significantly to various projects, demonstrating expertise in research and program management. As a team member, she played a crucial role in the “Impact Evaluation of ICDS program in the state of Karnataka,” funded by Government of Karnataka, from March to December 2022. Additionally, she served as a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in a UNICEF funded project titled “Technical Support to Accelerate the Promotion of COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviors (CAB) for the State of Karnataka” from Aug 2021 to April 2022. In this capacity, her responsibilities included overseeing the implementation of Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) activities focusing on COVID specific behaviors, including nutrition and WASH, across 31 districts of Karnataka. She worked on assessments of malnutrition, IYCF practices, lifestyle behaviors, dietary patterns, and nutrient intake among infants, toddlers, and children aged 6 months to 18 years in six states of North and East India. Additionally, she assessed the iodine nutritional status among neonates, school age children, adolescent girls, and pregnant mothers in Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan, funded by ICMR and DBT, Government of India. Her work also involved evaluating iodine content in food and water samples across various cooking methods. She worked on the management system of Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) tablets and liquid, Vitamin A supplements, and zinc dispersible tablets in five states of India, funded by ICMR. Her role included identifying bottlenecks in the procurement and distribution of IFA, vitamin A, and zinc dispersible tablets, contributing to improved program implementation strategies.
