According to the World Health Organization, Infection prevention and control (IPC) is a scientific approach and practical solution designed to prevent harm caused by infection to patients and health workers. IPC occupies a unique position in the field of patient safety and quality universal health coverage since it is relevant to health workers and patients at every single health-care encounter. Infection control in healthcare is at top priority. As per National Healthcare Safety Network, an infection is considered a Healthcare-Associated Infection (HAI) if the date of event of the NHSN site-specific infection criterion occurs on or after the 3rd calendar day of admission to an inpatient location where day of admission is calendar day 1. Care bundles aim to improve standard of care and patient outcome by promoting the consistent implementation of a group of effective interventions. Care bundles include a set of evidence-based measures that, when implemented together, have shown to improve patient care and have a greater impact than that of the isolated implementation of individual measures.
The observations that at least 1/3rd of HAIs can be prevented by surveillance and implementation of evidence-based guidelines for prevention of infections. Against the background, the present study aims to develop a digital platform to capture and monitor HAI surveillance and to check the accuracy of care bundle protocol followed. The objective is to create digital HAI surveillance and to interlink with incident management and action tracker module to plan CAPA and implement. Secondary data was collected from NHSN and IHI guidelines to create the digital forms for healthcare organization. The reducing preventable HAIs remains an imperative mission and is a continuous opportunity to improve and maximize patient safety. Monitoring both process and outcome measures and assessing their correlation to establish good health care outcomes. Improvement is impossible without evaluation reports to provide data on the factors that contribute to mistakes and lead to subsequent individual and system changes that support safer practices, our platforms make this possible.
